All those couples that have come before you have asked lots of questions. Here’s the greatest hits!
DO YOU ENJOY YOUR JOB?
Ooooooh YES! Hopefully that is very obvious when you navigate your way through this site! You just can’t beat the atmosphere of a wedding – the sense of pure joy. On top of that, each wedding is totally unique. The light, location, weather, the people and their personalities – it’s all new. Imagine loving every minute of your working life! That’s me! Don’t hate me!
HOW DO YOU APPROACH A WEDDING?
Put simply, I listen to you. From the first chat that we have all the way through to the big day, I’m listening. I have a form that I send to couples which is based all around them. It also features a section ranking various elements of your wedding photography out of 10. All these things combined give me a great idea of how to photograph your day for you. Each wedding is unique and in my opinion it needs to be photographed that way.
Alongside this, the big day is all about being relaxed. You can see this in my work. Most of my day is spent on the outside of the wedding, watching and capturing. But if you’re infront of my camera, I like to keep it light and fun, it’s your wedding day after all. It’s important that you are just, well, you! I’m not going to ask you to do anything you feel uncomfortable with. It’s the truth we are seeking, the real you, it’s not a performance. I’m not expecting you to do anything that you wouldn’t normally do!
WHAT ABOUT YOUR STYLE?
It’s hard to pin point my exact style. It’s mainly documentary, but as I have stated above, there is a small amount of “posing”, if you want to call it that!
The best way to see what I do is just scroll through this site. There are so many photographs to see and real life weddings too. All of these were taken by me, so if you like what you see then perhaps I’m the photographer for you! Here’s a link to my recent weddings – RECENT WEDDINGS
DO YOU DO FORMAL PHOTOGRAPHS?
I sure do if that’s what you’d like! I sort of feel that my talents (if you’d be so kind as to call them that!) are totally wasted shooting these ALL day though! In order to achieve those natural shots you are seeing throughout this site, I need to be afforded the time to capture them. PLEASE don’t think I won’t do any family shots though. I get why you might want them and all I’m interested in is making you happy. Steph and I had them on our Wedding day. We had close family groups, Parents, Siblings, Grandparents, Bridesmaids, Ushers and Bestmen and an image of everyone. We all have our own ideas, but I think the best way to treat these images is, are you going to print it out? Is it going to be in your album? If not, and it’s going to sit on your computer and never see the light of day, then why bother devoting a large chunk of your day to it? Your time is at a premium and we’ve all been to a wedding where those shots have taken HOURS! No fun. So what I ask is for couples to consider the volume of their family photos and to remember that the more you have, the less time you have to tuck into the champagne and canapés!
YOU USED TO BE A MOTORSPORT PHOTOGRAPHER, DO YOU THINK THIS HELPS WITH PHOTOGRAPHING WEDDINGS?
Well, for those of you that don’t know, I used to shoot motorsport. I shot Formula One and tons of other stuff and I travelled to all corners of the globe. Sounds glamorous doesn’t it? Well sometimes it was, sometimes it wasn’t. I think the experience helped me when I moved over to weddings initially, but I’ve been doing this for over 10 years now and honestly it’s all very much in my past. I’m a much better and much more accomplished wedding photographer than I ever was a motorsport photographer. I’ve been shooting weddings for longer than I shot F1. I’ve developed and refined my way of doing things so much over the last decade that I’d have to say that now it doesn’t help. But it definitely shaped my style and gave me the confidence I needed to develop and succeed in weddings.
CAN WE JUST HAVE PHOTOS AND NO ALBUM?
You sure can! My pricing starts with a “Download & Me” option. Check out the pricing page for more info…
HOW MANY IMAGES DO YOU TAKE?
Gosh, quite a few! Largely my style is documentary so I’m dealing in fleeting moments. So I pretty much take three or four photographs every time I press the button. I’d rather get a great shot taking two or three than get a great image with a persons eyes closed taking one if you see what I mean! Once I have completed a wedding I will make selections of all the best photographs and edit those for you both in colour and black and white.
DO YOU SHOOT DIGITAL OR FILM?
I shoot digitally. The images you will receive will be high res JPGs.
WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU ARE ILL?
Well, the first thing here is I’d have to be very very ill indeed to not be there. The benefit of being in the industry for so long is you meet lots of other photographers and it would be one of those friends that I call on to take the reins.
DO WE GET TO MEET YOU BEFORE THE WEDDING?
Sure! Before the wedding we have a wedding meeting. This can be either over FaceTime, Zoom etc or in person at a coffee shop or something. I’m a bit of a coffee fiend so any excuse for a coffee s good enough for me!
WHERE DO WE DO THE ENGAGEMENT SHOOT?
Engagement shoots cost 250 and we can do these wherever you would like to. If it’s a bit of a journey, a travel fee would be payable. If you’re struggling to find a location I’d be happy to give some advice or even find a spot for us.
DO YOU ASK FOR DEPOSITS?
Yes. There are three things I need in order to confirm a booking. The first is the booking form completed, the second is the terms and conditions signed and the third is your deposit paid. This is £300 and is deductible from your final balance.
“We are over the moon with all the photos of our special day! You captured some truly magical moments and would recommend your services to anyone!”
