FAQs

I’m sure you have lots of questions! Here are a few common questions answered for you. If you have any more then feel free to get in touch!

DO YOU ENJOY YOUR JOB?

Ooooooh YES! Hopefully that is very obvious when you navigate your way through this site! You just can’t beat the atmosphere of a wedding – the sense of pure joy. On top of that, each wedding is totally unique. The light, location, weather, the people and their personalities – it’s all new. Imagine loving every minute of your working life! That’s me! Don’t hate me!

HOW DO YOU APPROACH A WEDDING?

In the first instance, it’s about listening to you. I’ll always chat to a couple about their day and what exactly they love about my style. Because there is a certain style to my work and you need to be sure that you love what I produce before you book me (I realize this all sounds obvious but it’s worth me mentioning anyway!) With all this said, everybody is different and every wedding is different so it needs to be documented accordingly. My mindset is and always has been, it’s all about you. (you the client that is. Not you as in me!!!!!) It’s your day and these are your memories. So listening to you is very important.

On the day, the vast majority of my time is spent seeking the real. Those moments that occur with no posing or staging that are totally unique to your wedding. Sure, there will be a degree of posing in some areas, like the family photographs (if you want them) and the shoot I do with the happy couple. Please don’t run a mile after hearing that! It is very minimal. The main thing about the couple shoot is to get you to a place where you feel comfortable in front of the camera – the foundations will already be built here during the Pre-Wedding shoot a month or so before the big day. Once you’re feeling a little more confident, more relaxed in my company and altogether at ease with the process, that’s where those natural shots of the couples you’ve seen on this site come from. So yeh, I’ll pose you a little, but only a bit. It’s more about having fun. If you’re having fun, that’s what the camera will see and that’s when we achieve those relaxed portraits that my couples love!

WHAT ABOUT YOUR STYLE?

It’s hard to pin point my exact style. It’s mainly documentary, but as I have stated above, there is a small amount of “posing”, if you want to call it that!

The best way to see what I do is just scroll through this site. There are so many photographs to see and real life weddings too. All of these were taken by me, so if you like what you see then perhaps I’m the photographer for you! Here’s a link to my recent weddings – RECENT WEDDINGS

DO YOU DO FORMAL PHOTOGRAPHS?

I sure do if that’s what you’d like! I sort of feel that my talents (if you’d be so kind as to call them that!) are totally wasted shooting these ALL day though!  In order to achieve those natural shots you are seeing throughout this site, I need to be afforded the time to capture them. PLEASE don’t think I won’t do any family shots though. I get why you might want them and all I’m interested in is making you happy. Steph and I had them on our Wedding day. We had close family groups, Parents, Siblings, Grandparents, Bridesmaids, Ushers and Bestmen and an image of everyone. We all have our own ideas, but I think the best way to treat these images is, are you going to print it out? Is it going to be in your album? If not, and it’s going to sit on your computer and never see the light of day, then why bother devoting a large chunk of your day to it? Your time is at a premium and we’ve all been to a wedding where those shots have taken HOURS! No fun. So what I ask is for couples to consider the volume of their family photos and to remember that the more you have, the less time you have to tuck into the champagne and canapés!

YOU USED TO BE A MOTORSPORT PHOTOGRAPHER, DO YOU THINK THIS HELPS WITH PHOTOGRAPHING WEDDINGS?

Well, for those of you that don’t know, I used to shoot motorsport. I shot Formula One and tons of other stuff and I travelled to all corners of the globe. Sounds glamorous doesn’t it? Well sometimes it was, sometimes it wasn’t. I think the experience helped me when I moved over to weddings initially, but I’ve been doing this for over 10 years now and honestly it’s all very much in my past. I’m a much better and much more accomplished wedding photographer than I ever was a motorsport photographer. I’ve been shooting weddings for longer than I shot F1. I’ve developed and refined my way of doing things so much over the last decade that I’d have to say that now it doesn’t help. But it definitely shaped my style and gave me the confidence I needed to develop and succeed in weddings.

CAN WE JUST HAVE PHOTOS AND NO ALBUM?

You sure can! My pricing starts with a “Download & Me” option. Check out the pricing page for more info

HOW MANY IMAGES DO YOU TAKE?

I take a lot of images on a wedding day. If they look great, they get selected and then edited in colour and then black and white as long as they work in both formats.

DO YOU SHOOT DIGITAL OR FILM?

I shoot digitally. The images you will receive will be high res JPGs.

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU ARE ILL?

Well, the first thing here is I’d have to be very very ill indeed to not be there. The benefit of being in the industry for so long is you meet lots of other photographers and it would be one of those friends that I call on to take the reins.

DO WE GET TO MEET YOU BEFORE THE WEDDING?

Sure! If you’d like to book an initial meeting to discuss your day then we can get you booked into the office. From there, if you book, you will have a complimentary pre wedding shoot so we will meet each other again for that. You can get in touch here.

WHERE DO WE DO THE ENGAGEMENT SHOOT?

Engagement shoots are held at my cottage address. We can use other locations but additional costs can apply. Engagement shoots are usually held one month(ish) before your wedding day but it’s your shoot so you can do it when you like!

DO YOU ASK FOR DEPOSITS?

Yes. There are three things I need in order to confirm a booking. The first is the booking form completed, the second is the terms and conditions signed and the third is your deposit paid. This is £300 and is deductible from your final balance.
